Cox, who is the first African-American to lead the Orpheum’s Board, said that not enough people of color are benefiting from the Orpheum’s offerings, and he hopes to change the impact the Orpheum and other theatrical venues can have on exposing art to African Americans and other people of color. Through Cox’s leadership, three of four new Board positions at the Orpheum added have gone to persons of color.
Robert Cox, an AV-rated trial attorney, received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Notre Dame and bachelor’s degree from Princeton University. A Memphis native, Mr. Cox is a member of the Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas Bar Associations.
